5th Annual Mariachi Festival

The Brown Theater at the Wortham Theater downtown Houston was the venue for the 5th Annual Mariachi Festival. Mariachi Festival is a non-profit organization founded in August 2019. Their mission is to promote Hispanic Culture through the arts with mariachi and ballet folklorico in schools. The brilliant performance displayed on the stage at the Brown Theater is a shining example that they have been stunningly successful.

Oscar de la Rosa, lead singer of La Mafia, a program of star Mariachi groups and performers worthy of Broadway, thrilled the audience and received standing ovations.

Mariachi Festival has educational programs now at elementary, middle and high schools. The University of Houston has a mariachi program as part of its curriculum. A charming 7 year old girl, Alessandra Karina Gutierrez captivated the audience with her amazing vocals for such a young age. The already well known and popular young man, Eduardo Antonio Trevino, already a star, was in fine form with romantic ballads delivered beautifully.
