On January 19, 2024, the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia kicked off a series of events commemorating the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-US Diplomatic Relations. The milestone was celebrated through the inauguration of a mural by Texas Muralist Dan Terry, and a tour of the business gallery at the Indonesian Consulate General in Houston.

The event was attended by Texas Representative, Suleman Lalani; Council Member,  Tiffany D. Thomas; Marty McVey from the Consular Corps of Houston; Preston Ward from the Department of State; Remond Lourdes from the Houston Museum of Fine Arts; representatives from the Mayor’s Office; Dharma Wanita Persatuan; education partners, business associates, and the Indonesian community in Houston.

The involvement of the Texas Representative and a Council Member reflects the support of the ideas Indonesians bring for the growth of both communities, Indonesia - United States.

Consul General Andre Siregar reminded everyone, “The 75 years of diplomatic ties between Indonesia and the U.S. provide a strong foundation to further develop cooperation in economic, trade, and socio-cultural fields. In 2024. Indonesia added a mural to the city of Houston, and we want to do more trade”.

Representative Lalani emphasized that this event showcases the diversity of the Houston community, and everyone must turn it into a strength for progress while Council Member Tiffany Thomas expressed appreciation and support for KJRI’s initiatives contributing to the advancement of Houston’s diverse community.
