Hon. Charles Foster Honored Recipient of the Sissy Farenthold Social Justice Award

The Sissy Farenthold Social Justice Award Ceremony Honoring Charles Foster was held at the Clock Tower Office of Attorney Mike Doyle. Friends, Family, and longtime colleagues of the Honorable Consul General to Thailand in Houston gathered to honor him. Charles C. Foster, Chairman of Foster LLP in Houston, is a world-renowned immigration attorney. He has advised several U.S. Presidents on immigration policy, testified before Congress, and has served as the Honorary Consul General to Thailand since 1997. He is the former President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and has earned several awards for his work in immigration reform and for his lifetime of community service. George Farenthold himself presented the award and spoke passionately about Sissy Farenthold and his plans to keep her foundation and legacy growing and moving forward.

Mary Frances Tarlton “Sissy” Farenthold was an American politician, attorney, activist, and educator. She was best known for her two campaigns for governor of Texas in 1972 and 1974, and for being placed in nomination for vice president of the United States, finishing second at the 1972 Democratic National Convention. She was elected as the first chair of the National Women’s Political Caucus in 1973. She was a dedicated advocate for women and the underserved achieving several firsts for women in politics. Her legacy includes proclamations and a memorial fund.
