The premiere of the Joe Sample Soundstage was held on National Freedom Day and the start of Black History Month, which suitably fell on Joe Sample’s 83rd birthday, Tuesday, February 1, 2022. The late legendary pianist and composer Joe Sample found endless delight in creating an uncovering – and discovering– new musical wonders, Sample’s restless spirit guided a career that spanned nearly 5 decades blazing new compositional trails across the terrain of Jazz music and beyond contributing hundreds of songs — many of which are considered standards – to Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Blues, gospel, Acoustic Jazz, and Classical.
The Joe Sample Soundstage is an internationally recognized world-class Jazz landmark and is officially named in honor of the legendary Joe Sample, an acclaimed American composer, virtuoso, and musician. The Joe Sample Soundstage is famously known as a destination for intimately experiencing the best Jazz, Classical and Blues music in the World. The soundstage will embody Joe Sample in his hometown of Houston, Texas, featuring artists both local and from around the World.
