This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the moon landing. On October 12th, Hon. Mayor Sylvestor Turner, the Consular Corps Houston, and distinguished guests gathered at the George R. Brown to celebrate that historical event in our nation’s history.
Mayor Turner welcomed the Consuls, made a moving toast and spoke proudly of NASA for being the ones who brought the U.S., and especially Houston, into the challenging world of Space Exploration.
Following the presentation of colors by the Ross Volunteer Group, the consuls and their spouses were introduced as they walked under a saber arch, Hon. Mayor Turner and Hon. Juan P. Sosa, Dean of the Consular Corps, each made a toast and invited the guests to enjoy dinner and dancing.
When the evening came to a close, many guests left with elegant items they had purchased at the silent auction. Every guest received a commemorative photo to keep as a souvenir.
