The Pink Frog Affair in Celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Written by Cynthia L. Blandford, Publisher
On October 6, 2023, I attended The Pink Frog Affair, an evening of poetry, music and dance, celebrating breast cancer survivors honoring the memory of loved ones at the Martin Luther King, Jr., International Chapel on the campus of Morehouse College. It was an amazing evening with performances, testimonies and tributes shared with hundreds of supporters, survivors and friends of The Pink Frog. The Queen of contemporary Gospel Music Yolanda Adams graced the occasion.
Founded in 2021 by Tammy L. Bolton, a breast cancer survivor and her husband Robert, they decided to start The Pink Frog Foundation to help in the fight against breast cancer. The Pink Frog Foundation, Inc. is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to breast cancer patients. In addition, the organization strives to provide emotional, social and educational programming, increasing public awareness about the special needs and issues facing individuals with breast cancer.
President Biden proclaimed October 2023 as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. More information is available online at cancer.gov/types/breast or by calling 1-800-422-6237 to reach information specialists at the National Cancer Institute, who can answer cancer-related questions in English and Spanish. Also, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program provides breast cancer screenings and diagnostic services to those with low incomes who are uninsured or otherwise qualify for the program — learn more at cdc.gov/cancer/nbccedp/screenings.htm.
